What started out as a simple remodel for the main house, quickly grew into an aggressively planned renovation of the guest house, until its completion over the course of 10 months. In the main house, we tweaked every room in some way, including a complete remodel of the kitchen. We went on to turn an existing formal dining room into a lounge room by adding a built-in bar and fireplace. With a manifestation of reimagined southern classic style, we avoided the typical coastal trends. The result was a juxtaposition of vintage treasures, historic antiques mixed with today’s comfort and conveniences that helped redefine a lifestyle of “chic” with some old world elegance. Rich in fabrics and textures, the use of multiple layers in this project speak for themselves. The fabrics, mostly tactile velvets, could stand up to an active family. The softness of the plush velvets ensure enveloping comfort in all of the upholstery pieces. Copious amounts of natural light was also harnessed in creative ways throughout the space including the introduction of mirrored panels, complete with gilt lattice work; a wonderful example of combining the texture of metal with the reflection of the eglomise glass. We enjoyed curating this home with the finest in luxurious objects and accessories. This project was published in Florida Design Magazine following its completion and continues to set new standards for traditional design.
