This project brought creative homeowners with a clear vision; they wanted a charming cottage that still exuded the same caliber of color, charisma and charm as their own personalities. Our mantra started when the client brought a dress to a meeting and said “design my house around this dress!” From there, we hit the ground running by collecting colorful fabrics by Manuel Canovas, hunting for vintage pieces, and sourcing antiques. We wanted the happiness of color throughout and the comfort of today’s luxury upholstery. Rattan, cane, linen wrapped furniture, and grasscloth wall-coverings provide texture throughout the space. We paneled the study with imported aged cypress wood from the Carolinas enveloping it in rich history. We found many finish techniques for paneling the wood ceilings, and painting the nickel gapped shiplap with a light glaze to ensure the knots could breathe through the paint and be a visible accent. The whimsical touches and Palm Beach flair make this home welcoming, charming and brimming with happiness. It was not only published in Florida Design, but it also made the cover shot for the magazine. It continues to be reintroduced as small publications promoting leading design examples in multiple issues of Naples Illustrated.
