Azilia Avenue
This beautiful French château-style home has a rich history dating back to 1979, when the original central portion of the house was built. Still in the same family, the property has evolved over the past 47 years through numerous remodels and additions, including the acquisition of additional land that made it one of the largest single-family lots on this Lowcountry island. Many architectural details were imported from France and Italy, including 17 fireplace mantels.
Our role in this project included a complete overhaul of the furnishings, renovations to the kitchen, butler’s pantry, manager’s office, and mud room, the combination of two guest ensuites into a spacious first-floor primary suite, renovation of the second-floor primary bathroom, and a redesign of the grounds and exterior furnishings.
Living more like a boutique hotel, this exquisite family compound spans over 15,000 square feet and includes 10 bedrooms, 13 and a half bathrooms, a private pub, game room, gazebo, cabana baths, wine room, library, and movie theater. Our goal was to preserve the integrity of the home while introducing a fresh perspective with modern conveniences and more forgiving finishes, blending existing antiques, repurposed upholstery, and newly sourced furnishings and antiques from around the world. Inspired by French and English eighteenth-century influences, our selections, along with new fabrics and wall coverings, brought renewed life to this second home, resulting in casual elegance at its finest.
